Topic: 1953 Horns

My '53 has been converted to a 12v system. Do I need to use a voltage reducer for the horns or will they work with a 12v system? They are the original horns. Thanks.

Just a thought. I am sure others know more about this than I do as I am strictly a 6-volt guy, but how 'bout wiring the horns in series rather than parallel?

Horns draw the second most current after the starter, so most voltage reducers can't handle the load. As the ground for the horns is usually not brought as a separate connection, placing them in series can be difficult. You will need to replace the horn relay with a 12 volt type (B6A-13853)in any case. You can obtain 12 volt horns (F4AZ-13833/4), all available at C&G (800/266-0470).

Thanks for the advice. I'm usually at C & G once a month.
