Does anyone know how to find out the factory build date of a 1952 Ford Ranch Wagon? Thanks.

Maybe someone knows where to get the date, but, if they don't, this may be helpful: Look for a bunch of letters and numbers stamped into the center of the cowl. Some factories put information there and some didn't, and the format varied from factory-to-factory. If the date is there, it will probably be in a format similar to this: Number on cowl – SR1M23G663: S= Somerville, MA, R= 8 cylinder 239 V-8, 1= (F-1), M = Meadow Green, 23G = July 23, Unit no. = 663. (The unit number is an internal plant assigned number used to keep up with plant production.) The I was not used in dates because it could be mistakened for 1, so skip I, i.e., J would be 9.

If you want an approximation, look at the date on the windshield and window glass. Also, the date that the speedometer was built is probably stamped on the back of the speedometer. Your car was probably build about 4-6 weeks after these dates.

Thanks for your reply Richard. I haven't found any information stamped on the firewall but the VIN plate shows a production code which ends in "6B". This would mean February 6 according to your information. I still need to check out the windshield in some good light. Maybe there are some more clues there.
