Hi I am an owner of a 41 Coupe and live in Sweden. I restored my vent windows with new rubber seals but it does not work so good. The window will not tight against the seal and there is a gap. The edge on the seal seems to be too low. Anybody out there with the same problem? Exuse me for my bad English.

There is more than 1 vendor that make the seal. My first step would be to contact the vendor that sold it to you. If he cannot help then I would check around for the best seal available and order it. Tom

Check to see that you have the correct seals. The number for the pair is 11A-7021448/9. Most vent window kits don't include the back edge seal. They are rubber with a steel insert. The item number for a pair of these seals is 11A-7022296. They are necessary for the window to seal correctly. Be sure that your regulators are not badly worn, and the pivots are secure.

Thank you guys for your answers. I have heard before that there will be more than one manufactors of vent window seals so I think I must ask my dealer which he got from. I also will explain that the problem mostly is in the round corner and at the bottom of the rubber seal. The vertical filt seal is ok.

Most of the rubber window seals are made by Dennis Carpenter or Bob Drake. The vents are sometimes stubborn because the glass isn't fully into the channel, producing a pucker at the corner. Be sure that the channel in the frame is clear of obstructions, and that the rivets attaching the frame to the pivots are completely seated. If one or more is loose, the seal will be affected,as will be by any distortion of the frame, itself. The glass will always stay straight, but the frame can be easily bent.

I have checked it up and my seals which not work good are manufactured by Vintique inc. Anybody who know other manufactorers of those seals? Does Dennis Carpenter and Bob Drake manufact by them self or do they buy from any manufactor?

I don't know who supplies the seals to C&G Ford parts but I used them in the restoration of my '41 coupe and they sealed very good.

I've never has a problem with seals from C&G. It has been a long time since anything was ordered from Vintique here. Usually, if you order from Drake, they come in a Carpenter package, anyway. At one time, years ago, an outfit called "Dale's Manufacturing" sold seals, and like most of their products, were not high quality, but cheap. As in most things "you get what you pay for" (if you are lucky).

Do you mean that Vintiqe Inc. has bad products? In that case I am glad to get that information. About the prices I can say that is not so big different between the dealers when you compare. Anyway,the problem when you order from a dealer is that you don´t know from which manufacturer the parts come. I suppose some are just dealers, other are dealers and manufacturers and some are just manufacturers.

Most dealers handle parts made by others. The making of molds and dies is very expensive, so isn't practical for many to invest in them. What I said was that I hadn't bought from Vintique for a long time. I bought one of their mirrors when it was ordered thru another vendor. It was fine. Many vendors seek the lowest prices, and this can mean low quality, so sticking with known good vendors is recommended. This message was edited by supereal on 12-1-12 @ 7:41 PM
