Topic: coil mount

My coil has a home made mount on the left side of the engine compartment. I would like it to be original. C&G has a universal mount or does someone else have the correct mount? Where is the coil mounted and how? A photograph would be most helpful. 1940 DeLuxe. Thanks!

Sounds like your distributor has been modified for use with a modern cylindrical coil. In the original configuration, the coil is mounted directly on top of the distributor.

It has the crab type distributor which I know is not stock. Where is it mounted with this type distributor?

Wolfie, I had the same problem. You can't use the stock '42-'48 style coil bracket that bolts to the intake manifold because the radiator hose on the '40 is lower and gets in the way. I found a simple bracket from a later Ford and used it to mount my coil to a bolt on the generator bracket. (I used the later '42-'48 style generator which has threaded holes for the fan bolts.)
