Topic: 1935-36 cabriolet question

I recently picked up a '36 cabriolet that needs LOTS of work. It is missing much so I am guessing as to what is missing.

Is there a top window seal? Seems like there should be. The only evidence that something is missing are two threaded screw holes that suggest something should be there. As it stands now rain or washing water will pour into the car without some upper window seal.

Thanks for the help.

  Tom,

There is a flap that is under the top that snaps to the irons where you show the hole(s). There is no "seal" as there is on the front stanchion and back of the window. That flap is inside the upper window frame.

Mine is over the pads but under the top, if that makes sense. Also, the front header bow has a flat metal cap that runs all the way across the bow. The cap has a rib in it that seals against the top of the windshield.

Not the best setup but I see your front seal for the window and there is one at the back just like it. The top of the window is where the flap goes. When you crank the window all the way up, it will be on the outside of the flap and under the top. The window is back under the top so the water drips over the window.

You don't have to wear a raincoat in one of these but water does run through the doors, rumble etc.

Nice dash... Show us some photos
