Topic: V-60 Aluminum Cyl. Heads

Rebuilding 1938 V-60 and trying to identify correct aluminum cylinder heads regarding "Raised or Indented" Ford script and part number. One of mine is Raised cast Ford script and part number (52-6050-B)and the other is an indented part number cast in head. Would like a matched set. The 38 Ford Book does not identify exactly. Just wondering what other 37, 38 or 39 V-60 owners may have. Thanks

If your car is to be restored to be point judged the Ford aluminum heads marked 52-6050-B are the ones you need to use. Some think that the ones with raised script and part number were used on 1937 engines and that the ones with indented script and part number were used on 1938 and 1939 engines. I am rebuilding a late 1937 V8-60 to use in a car which will not be point judged. In the interest of having a leak-free daily driver I will be using the cast iron 52-6050-C heads. These heads have the scrip and part number indented and were optional on 1940 engines.

Hey Carcrazy, Actually cast iron heads were "standard" issue on the 60HP in 1940. They were in fact mixed in production with aluminum heads.

  Hi John

I am running the original cast iron heads.
