Topic: 1951 Ford Business Coupe

kroberts740    -- 09-26-2012 @ 6:07 AM
I have a 74 year old friend who bought a 1951 Ford Business Coupe that had been "converted" to a club coupe by removing the back seat area platform and installing a rear seat. He now wants to find an original platform, or at least a source for a pattern to have one made. Can anyone suggest a source or even someone who has an original business coupe and could provide pictures? We are located in eastern Ohio near Canton, OH.

Thanks

I tried the Shoebox people and several other vendors who specialize in 49-51 parts and the consensus is that it's unique to the 51 bus.cpe and very rare and impossible to find. I'm now looking for pictures, dimensions, etc. or a lead to a person who could make the part.

Thanks

Ken

I would run a want ad on this site and Fordbarn seeking those dimensions. Surely someone has a business coupe and can give you the dimensions or make a paper pattern.

Ken a fellow member of regional group20 Northern Ohio Regional Group has a 49 Ford Business Coupe. We meet the 3rd Friday of the month at the Stow Community Center. The member is Ken Canacamp and he is in the roster. Hopefully Ken can help.

Ken, the horizontal platform would have been supported by the same riser that otherwise would support the leading edge of the rear seat. (The '52 Bus. Cpe featured that design also.) Your friend's conversion likely simply removed the platform, leaving the riser intact.
