Topic: 1934 Cabriolet pitman arm

I need a new steering arm (pitman arm) for my stock '34 Ford Cabriolet. I have searched C & G, Carpenter's, Mac's, Hemmings motor news, e-bay, and Lares Steering with no luck.
Am I forced to go to a Vega steering unit or is there another answer? Does anyone have any suggestions?

What is the matter with your pitman arm? It may be repairable.

Lots of play in the steering. Mechanic says its worn pretty good.

Usually, any perceptible wear occurs in the ball, not the sector end. Unless the serrations that clamp the sector shaft are damaged, the arm can be salvaged by rebuilding the ball. All old stock arms are gone for the very early Fords, and no repros are made.

  Thank you very much.

There was a NOS 34 pitman arm on the auction site not long ago and with some additional search you may find a good used one. They are around. I have one that the ball is somewhat worn but usefull.
