I know very little about Wiring. I have built a test stand for flathead V/8s. I need help on the proper way to wire it. I plan on runing engine just off battery. Not using generator. I have a starter button/ Three toggle switches/ One for ignition/ one for electric fuel pump/ One for electric fan. I will be using a 12 volt battery. I have a starter solenoid I will need a resistor to coil. Can anyone out there give me the proper info, I would be more than gratefull. Thanks. Stan 1-775-265-5333/Nevada

To test run an engine, connect the ground side of the battery to the engine block with a suitable cable. The other side of the battery goes to the starter solenoid. then on to the starter. The power to your accessory switches is tapped from the input to the solenoid. The common starter solenoid, if you have the type with one small terminal, goes to the starter button, with the other side of the button to ground. The wire from the switch to the distributor should be routed thru a resistor, if you have a six volt coil. If you plan to run the car on 12 volts, it is best to have the coil rewound for that voltage, or you will have point and coil life problems.
