I am trying to determine the lengh of the Hood Hinge Springs on my 1946 Ford Coupe? I bought a set from Carpenter, but they don't seem to fit?

The correct springs for your car are 91A-16789. In many cases, it is better to order a new pair of springs and support arms as an assembly, as many have loose pivots. For your car, those are 91A-16782/3. They are not expensive, and can prevent getting conked when a hood comes down unexpectedly. Be sure you have the correct shoulder bolts and anti rattler washers, They come as a pair, #3110. If the hood brackets are badly worn, order 21A-16796/7. Mine came from C&G.

I'm wondering what you mean when you say "they don't seem to fit." What's not to fit? If you mean they seem too hard to stretch to fit? That's for sure. They are a bear to get on but they do go on and you most likely have the right ones. Here's a thread on the Ford Barn explaining different ways to get them on: http://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=77341
