I've heard of a lot of strange prototype engines developed by Ford that never saw production. An X-8 that apparently ended up in Edsel's boat, 5-cylinder inlines that were intended to bridge the gap between 4's and 8's without resorting to a 6 like Chev or Plymouth. Magnesium air-cooled V8's, etc. I don't recall any V10's. Lots of V12's, but no V-10's until the modern "mod-motor" overhead cam era, where they became popular in light trucks. However, if you were to count the exhaust ports on a Lincoln Zephyr, you would come up with 4 per side, since the center 4 cylinders use siamese'd ports. Maybe he just mis-counted?
