Topic: Radiator Leak

I have discovered a pinhole leak in the radiator of my 1937 Ford (85 HP) flathead V8. Remedies appear to be (1) plug the leak with some substance, (2) remove the radiator and solder the lead shut, (3) install a new radiator. Any suggestions short of removal and new radiator?

A pinhole is almost always a sign that the radiator is about to fail due to internal corrosion unless it is due to an injury by a rock, etc. A new replacement radiator or core is a jolt to the pocketbook, but one of the best investments in making your car reliable and fun to drive.

Rub your fingers across the fins. if they bend easy or flake off you need a new radiator. As supereal says a new radiator may be expensive, but it's a good investment. Breaking down on the road due to an overheated flathead is not fun experience if your wife is with you and you are 50 miles from nowhere on a hot day.
