Howdy, Boys: I go on all these various parts websites and look at the dimmer switches they all sell. Many are different from others touted as being correct. Can somebody show me a pic of an original NOS dimmer switch for a '39 Ford? I think the original (non-Ford, i.e., NAPA) part number might be DS-1. But, what I do not know for sure is whether the wires hook up with a slip fit, or with screws. Originally the dimmer switch was an integral part of the wiring harness. Solder connected the terminals to wires. Thus, the switch and harness were installed as an assembly. The part number, 81A 13532, indicates only a service replacement part. The switch was cadmium or zinc plated. A pair of 30103-S2 screws and 351276-S2 washers attached the switch to the wooden floor board. The switch had three solder type terminals and ONLY TWO threaded holes for attachment to the floor. The RBM Company supplied these switches to the Ford Motor Company. As a result, the RBM logo is stamped into the rear side.
