I had (had being the operative word) my 50 Fordor running for about 20 seconds. When I tried to restart, nothing. When I use the start button, I can get two clicks out of the solenoid then nothing. When I put a jumper wire from the battery to the solenoid, I can get repeated activation. Battery is brand new and has a charge, starter has been tested and works. In process of replacing solenoid as it may the be culprit even if it does click. Anyone care to offer their ideas as to the possible cause? I'm kinda stumped.

i'd try bypassing the solenoid with a jumper cable from the battery cable post direct to the starter cable post. ps make sure you're in neutral!

If you have the stock Ford solenoid, the center terminal is grounded to activate the solenoid. Your problem could be poor connections from the battery to the solenoid, from the solenoid to the starter, from the battery to ground, from the engine ground to the body ground or from the starter ground to the engine ground as well as a defective solenoid. I would use a volt meter to trouble shoot the connections and solenoid. Search for the subject "Grounding Headlights" for instructions on using the voltmeter to troubleshoot. Tom
