Topic: Installing Plug Wires

Bought a new set of plug wires from Rhode Island. I would appreciate suggestions on the best way to install them.

Assuming the wires are metallic, solder the terminals on each end. Have a diagram handy, as it is very easy to get mixed up. Don't ask me how I know. Be sure all wires are firmly seated in the cap. It helps to lay the wires out to get the sizes right before threading them thru the conduits. It helps to put masking tape tags on both ends of each wire so you can be sure that you know which is which once they are in the conduits. Remove the tape as you go.

Before pulling out the old, tape a long piece of string to the distributor end. The string can be used to pull the new wire through the conduit.

Before soldering ends on the distributor end, trial fit the looms and wires on the engine. That way you can cut off the excess at the distributor cap end and your wires will look neat on the engine.

Thanks guys! It always helps to get instruction from those who have been there before.

You won't be able to adjust the indvidual lengths while inside the conduit, as they will be tight, and you don't want to abrade the insulation while trying to adjust. The string suggestion is good, as they will help direct the wires to the holes they need to exit.
