How do you remove the ashtrays in the rear quarter panel trim in a 1953 Victoria? I would like to clean and refinish them. I don't want to have to remove the trim if It can be helped.

Those ashtrays should pull out. Push the lid back as far as it will go and then pull on the ashtray. You may have to "rock" them a bit as they could be stuck from dirt and rust. They were designed to be removed in order to empty them.

Try pushing down on the cigarette snuffer (the round projection), that should release the ashtray. The frame is probably held on by a screw. Tom
