IS IT POSSIBLE TO REPLACE THE PLASTIC PRNDL INDICATOR ON A 1953 FORD? IF SO, ARE THEY AVAILABLE ANYWHERE? HOW DIFFICULT TO DO?

I'm not sure if they repo the 53 or not. Call C and G Parts as they would know. If you can get the part you definitely can replace it. There is a small screw at the back of the diecast piece(near the top) that sits on top of the column. That screw holds the plastic indicator. Once the screw is out you can lift the plastic indicator out of the housing. If your indicator is not broke, but the letters are hard to read you can repaint the letter. Use enamel paint and spray the back of the indicator. The letters are recessed. Take a rag with a light dose of enamel thinner and wipe off the paint on the raised area. Try 'Concours Parts and Accessories' at this link: http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb.dll?parta~partsort~1~cadefice~~10 or, give them a call at 800-722-0009. Excellent source for parts for '50's vintage Fords and Merc's.
