Looking for recommendations for a good basic volt meter to check our 6 volt systems. Something without the dozens of numbers, dials and settings. Easy to read also as the old eyes don't do well under the car etc.

Go to Walmart, or Radio Shack, etc, and buy the cheapest analog VOM (volt-ohm meter), the one with a needle instead of a digital readout. Even though we have several expensive meters, the good old analog gets most of the use. The cost means that if you drop it, or burn it up, you are not out hundreds of dollars. I pack one in my road kit. If your old eyes are like mine, I'd select the one with the largest dial.
