Topic: Model 94 Carb

Anybody having fuel pressure problems with the new Airtex 9597 double action fuel pumps. Mine is reading about 5 lbs and , therefore, no fuel flowing thru the 94 carburator. Kenct has said no more than 3 lbs. I hate to have to put a regulator on the pump to carb line mainly for show reasons and points. It seems Airtex is using either a too strong spring are stiff rubber in the pump "Made in the USA". Any thoughts? Thanks Don

Return the fuel pump as defective. KenCt is correct. If you have had the pump too long, you can change the diaphragm return spring.

I have had good luck with the Offenhauser fuel pumps sold by Speedway Motors.

Thanks Tom. Kyle at C&G said no problem returning. Problem is getting a pump that works correctly. Most houses discontinued the dbl action rebuild kits. Then&Now in Mass rebuilds the dbl pumps but don't have a means to check the output pressure. Maybe that's why so many are running electric pumps with regulators.
I'll check out the Offenhauser pumps.

I believe both KenCT and Charlie sell rebuilt and tested fuel pumps, they do their own rebuilding.

Ken said he does not do double action pumps any longer.

I am sorry, I missed the double action part of your message. Go to RockAuto.com and order the Carter fuel pump. I have heard that they work better, but some people have had trouble with those also.

Put a single action pump on it. ken ct.

If you are still at 6 volts, I would recommend the Airtex E8902 low pressure electric inline pump. It is rated at around 2-5 lbs for vintage vehicles. No regulator necessary with it either. I use mine for priming and vapor lock conditions. Or, like Ken indicated, go to a single action if you don't need the extra vacuum. Good luck, Pat
