Has anybody used '35-'36 metal window channels from Argentina; do they need to be modified somewhat to work? Saw one and it appears to be longer than the original.

There is very little, if any, I'd trust from Argentina.

Ditto. My experience with Argentine parts is that they are pretty much junk. I'm sure there are exceptions.
