The 1937 Hubcap was made in two pieces and it appears that the center was fused to the larger cap. Most of the caps I find have damage to the center that could be corrected if I could separate the two pieces. Has anyone found a way to separate the two pieces of the 1937 hubcap without destroying it?

Carefully drill a small hole from inside the large steel cap being careful to not go so far as to drill into the stainless. 1/4 inch hole or maybe 5/16. Using an air hose, apply air to the hole and the stainless cap should pop off. Be careful and good luck.

As stated above --- careful. Suggest you shoot it into a cardboard box filled with a blanket.

I use a broken 1/8" or there about drill and mount it in the chuck with just a small amount showing. I then drill through the back of the cap toward the stainless portion. If I don't go through the metal I readjust the bit in the chuck to take a bigger bite. Once through apply air pressure and the stainless will pop off. There is very little space between the two parts of the cap and a 1/4" bit is going to damage the stainless.
