Topic: 1938 vs 1939 standard hubcaps

Is there a difference between the 38 standard and 39 standard hubcaps? I have found 4 caps that look to be new old stock and the pictures on the internet are not detailed enough for me to tell the difference.

They are much different. The '38 standard cap has a much larger V8 than the '39 standard. The basic skirt size and center rustless steel size are about the same.
Its ('38) "V8" went from one edge of the rustless steel to the other. The '39 "V8" fell about an inch shy of each side. I have attached a photo of a 39 std. cap.

Thanks for the excellent reply and picture. I will look at the set again and will now be able to know what they are. If my memory is good (?) they are 38's.
