Topic: Genuine Ford Parts sign bracket question

37 Coupe    -- 07-24-2012 @ 6:16 AM
Has anyone a wrought iron bracket for the 16"X 24" Genuine Ford Parts oval sign that could give me dimensions? A pattern would really be great. I would be happy just to find out the material that was used,1/8" thick? 3/16" thick? x ? 1" or wider? A true miracle would be to find one to buy without the sign. Thanks for any help.

There's one of these signs with bracket on eBay now. (16 Bids) at $980+ with 5 days to go meaning it will go for well over $1K. BUT there are couple photos of sign and bracket. Maybe you can ask seller for dimensions of metal in the bracket.

eBay Item Number: 190706269568

I'm sure a V-8er has one of these in their collection and will hopefully be able to help you out. Good luck.

Appreciate the information but seller is obviously not a V8er and cannot or will not give me the dimensions, thickness and width of material. Thanks again.

Here's some dimensions that I took from the sign in my garage.

Ford must have used a variety of brackets for their signs. I bought three NOS signs from Sandusky, MI Ford back in the late 1950s when they were closing shop. Each sign was individually boxed with the needed bracket. I only have one left and that has been hanging in my garage for the last 1/2 century!

Sorry about the dark picture. Try this one for a better view of the bracket.

Your bracket looks like its from the late 40's or early 50's Here is a FoMoCo sign with a similar bracket.

Don,thank you very much for the blueprint, very helpfull. nd thanks to you to flatheadfan. My sign is the same as yours and they may be later ones which are not porcelain and blue is darker than the earlier ones that are porcelain. Mayby the painted ones were intended for inside the service area and the porcelain ones were for outside the dealership? Thanks again.
