Topic: 60hp Hoses and Belt

Looking for source to locate hoses and belt for stock 1938 60hp engine/radiator. Many suppliers sell reproduction 85hp components, but the little 60hp has been disregarded (I know for good reason). There are a very few of us that only need 60hp to have fun. Thanks

Can't help you with the belt question, but I can with the hoses.
Your best bet is to go to your auto parts store and having your measurements for the 60hp, start looking at current hoses on the wall. You will need to find a current hose with the right bends within the length of the modern hose. Your goal here is to find the length and bends that you need in the length of a new modern hose. You will then have to cut off the extra hose that is not needed. I did that about 15 years ago when I had a 1937 60hp.
I have seen 60hp hoses out there, but they are as hard as a rock and good only for display.
Good luck.

Thanks, I'm being told that a Gates #8484 will do just as you recommend for the lower hoses and possibly a Gates 21202 will function well on the top end with alterations.

  Hi John:

I used (2) Gates #21202 for the upper hose, It fit a little off because of a small bend at the top. So I cut it and added a Stainless Steel pipe to rotate it, looks and fits great.

I used (2) Gates #20626 lower hoses. It has the same 90 degree bend at both ends and looks like it will fit with one hose, however, it was a little short so I needed two hoses.

For the belt I used Gates Truck and Bus Belt #TR 24465. The Gates web site listed two different belts for the V8 60hp, but this was the one that fit my car.

Hope this helps you out.

Charlie
