  Howdy, Boys:

Yet another '39 DeLuxe question.....

Can somebody tell me, with assurance, the correct color of the front rubber floor mat in a '39 DeLuxe Ford passenger car? Black, or taupe?

Much obliged,

Mike

NEVER black on any '39 or '40 Ford passenger cars. The current taupe reproduction mats are as close as you will get to the authentic color without painting them.

  Mike,
Any idea what the closest match ( and supplier ) on floor covering to get the factory look on a 1941 Super Deluxe Coupe?

By the way, Thanks for all the info sharing you do here - I learn a lot! I come from a historic road race background, so a bit different in nature - so these great 40s Fords are a bit new to me.

Hi John, Thanks for the too kind words.
I don't know too much about 1941 Fords but having just recently gone through this mat selection thing with a friend for his '41 I can tell you a bit about them.
1) Mats in 1941 were black. The super deluxe models had taupe color carpet inserts.
I did a little searching and find no one offering a mat with the carpet inserts.
2) The '41 Fords had the dimmer switch moved not once but twice. So, three total possible placements! Thus, the mat you purchase may or may not have the hole cut in the proper location for your particular vehicle.

It is my understanding that all mats are made from the same molds regardless of who is selling them. I prefer to purchase stuff from Dennis Carpenter simply as he has always been a good guy and helpful.
Currently Carpenter has the mat for $130 while Drake sells the identical mat for $215.

  Mike -
Thats what I found as well - no carpet inserts !

Well - until they come up with something proper for the Super Deluxe model - I will retain the full carpet currently in the old girl.

Thanks for confirming.
John
