Topic: 41 deluxe

Am considering the purchase of a nicely restored 41 deluxe 2 door (tudor) sedan. Everything appears to be original including an operable hot water heater. Price is realistic.
Question is: anything special to lookout for other than the usual areas of concern. Thanks for any and all responses.

Be sure to check all the common areas for rust or rust repairs that were not done properly. Check the tool tray, trunk floor pan, front floor pan under the driver's feet, the front pan under the heater(they do leak and over time cause the pan to rust out),make sure the wiring is in good shape, and lastly drive the car on a road test. Make sure it doesn't use oil and doesn't heat up. Also make sure the VIN(serial number) on the frame matches the number on the title.

Tierod, As for a realistic price, the '41 is probably the most realistic out there. For some reason I don't understand, it is less popular than the overpriced '40. The Tudor is a great choice for style and family, also.

Pretty much the same items to look for, as Tom pointed out, except for the side shifter. If it doesn't shift properly, it may be a bargaining point for you in negotiating price without being a big deal to adjust.

Your number one priority, before all else, is to be sure you are getting a clear title to the car. The paperwork must match the serial number stamped on the top of the left frame rail somewhere between the radiator and the firewall. If it doesn't walk, don't run, to the nearest exit.
