Because of a sad story involving the loss of a 1951 4" Mercury crank that needs to be replaced, I'm looking for which models/years used an equivalent crank, as well as a ballpark going rate for one, say for insurance purposes. Thanks, Paul

The 4" crank was used from 1949-1953 in the Mercury. The value is somewhere north of $350, depending upon condition, availability and part of the country that you live in. Speedway Motors sells a new Scat crankshaft for $700. Tom
