Does anyone have a suggestion of preference for the type of anti-freeze to use. I am getting ready to install my newly overhauled 100 HP Flathead back into my '46 Business Coupe. I also had the radiator boiled out, fins straightened and repainted. All new hoses and belts, as well as pumps. So the question I was asked, do I want the "orange" coolant or the "green" coolant. I use Sierra brand antifreeze. It is propylene glycol, instead of the usual "Prestone" ethylene glycol. It tends to foam less, and is not supposed to immediately kill bearings if it gets into the oil. I don't plan to test that, however. I mix it with demineralized water according to the directions on the bottle. Be careful regarding modern antifreeze for old cars. There are over a dozen different formulas, many with an acid base, and often are vehicle brand specific. In some cases, using the wrong type will void a warranty.

I use the same mixture as Supereal and have for 10 years with put any problems.
