Topic: crab distributor

I've had 3 39s and the other 2 had the 59AB with a crab distributor. It seemed to me a lot easier than my current original distributor. As the current car is finally starting and idling, my attention is focused on the distributor. Any drawbacks (other than the money!) to making the conversion with something like the Dick Spadaro unit?

You will need to replace your 3 hole cover with a 2 hole front gear cover and the spacer that Dick S sells. That's all. John

thanks, John...I've got the distributor on the way and will get the adapter from Spadaro. While I've got you on the topic, I can't remember how the coil mounted. It had two holes about 4 inches apart at the bottom of the coil. Was it on a bracket hung off the intake manifold?

You are correct, there is a stamped metal bracket that bolts on the intake manafold next to the generator for the coil.
