Topic: 1941 ford High beam headlight switch

The high beam headlight switch is stuck on high beam on my '41. I can't get it to go back to low beam. Anybody had anything like this happen? How did you fix it? I imagine that his switch is like 1942 - 48 at least.

Thanks,

Larry

Almost always, the dimmer switch is at fault. They take a lot of abuse under the floorboards, and are not really substantial to begin with.the cure is replacement.

Larry the dimmer switch on the floor board is easily replaced and replacements are available. They usually fail by not allowing the lights to come on in one or both positions.

In the situation that you are describing, I would look for interference between the switch and the floor mat, not allowing the switch to activate. You should hear a definite click when you press on the switch. If not then check the floor mat for interference or for the switch not firmly mounted to the floor board.
