I recently bought a 1937 Ford 85HP and need to rebuild the Stromberg Carb. Main jet parts are listed from .041 to .048. What size should I use?

From what I can find in the Green Bible, I would say to use .045 main metering jets at sea level in the Stromberg carburetor. If you are using the vehicle at elevations over 5000 feet, you will want to go down in MMJ size to .043 and increase the spark advance by 4 degrees.

Most "97" carbs run well with the .45 jets at sea level. The main problem with trying rebuild these carbs is that they often have been attacked by shade tree mechanics without the proper tools and knowledge, leaving internal damage. The "97" carbs are divided by two camps: those who swear by them, and those who swear at them. We received some info regarding "new and improved" Stromberg carbs. Not cheap, of course, but available if your carb has a persistant leak, or perfomance problems.
