Oil leakage past worn valve guides. Isn't unusual. It occurs under high vacuum conditions such as coasting. That is why Ford changed to one piece guides with oil seals on the intakes. This requires straight stem valves and adjustable lifters. It is a big job usually requiring pulling the engine. Unless the oil consumption is large, I'd just drive it. Be sure the oil pan isn't overfilled. The proper amount without a filter is five quarts.

If your valve guides are leaking, you can replace them with the engine in the car, but I would not recommend that.

When the guides are worn enough to leak, a complete valve job should be done. This is easier and less expensive to do at a machine shop. The seat grinding machines that will dress up the seats while the engine is in the car are not in general use today and it is much easier to control the residue from the operation when the engine is out of the car.

Do a dry and wet compression check if you are burning a lot of oil. This will tell you if your engine needs just a valve job or a complete overhaul.
