This weekend I was driving my '41 through town and was stopped at a red light. A guy on a motorcycle pulled up and tapped on my passenger window and gave a roll down the window sign. I did so and he said "You've got a wire sticking out." I asked if it was chrome and he said yes. I told him it was my curb feeler. I got this blank look and he said "Whatever. Just thought you should know." I thanked him, the light changed and 2 far removed generations drove away.

The generation gap goes the other way too... How many times have you looked under your car to confirm air conditioner condensation, and not a radiator leak?

Seems like too many times when I signal a left turn with my hand out the window the driver behind me thinks it's a signal to pass me on my left. Have to be careful to watch out for that one.

And most people coming at me from the opposite direction that see me signal a right turn just think I'm waving at them and wave back at me.

I recently had a guy stop by my house and look at my '51 truck. He asked what that was sticking out of the steering column. Up until then, I had thought that column shift was modern. I guess not.
