Have removed the inside mirror glass from it's frame in my '48 for replacement. Is there a source for precut replacements or does one find a local source to make one up. Noticed it's got a tint to it.

You could take a look at this mirror glass and call Mac's and get the dimensions of it to see if it would fit: http://macsautoparts.com/early-v8-ford-mercury-inside-rearview-mirror-glass-frame-ford-sr17681fss/camid/F30/cp/JS0R3CHL1105312/

Or you can just replace the whole fixture with a new one from here: https://secure435.hostgator.com/~dlvry40//ufolder/ShowProducts.php?c=1&s=32&g=288&t=1783&tn=

Or here's a used one for a lot less: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1946-1947-1948-FORD-MERCURY-REAR-VIEW-MIRROR-/330725647977?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4d00c8e669&vxp=mtr
