Topic: Reconditioned Engines

I recently purchased an 8BA engine which has a tag showing that it was reconditioned by TAM Engineering Corp. at some time in the past. Is there a way to learn when and where this reconditioning was done?

Ford had authorized rebuilder shops around the country. When it was one of Ford's that did the rebuilding, a metal tag was attached to the top edge of the flywheel casting on the block. The tag stated that it was a Ford authorized rebuild. Ford also used small Ford Authorized Rebuild decals on parts that were attachments to the engine, such as starters, generators, carburators, and distributors.
While this doesnt answer your question, it does let you know that it looks like your engine was not rebuilt by a Ford authorized rebuilder.

On a google search I found the following information; go to; http://fredjonescompanies.com
This company was involved puchasing many different automotive related companies over many years. One of the companies it owned was TAM Engineering Corporation. TAM was one of the largest remanufacturing companies for Ford engines in the U.S. They were an authorized Ford remanufacturer.
