Passenger door on my '48 convert doesn't close evenly. About 1/4" out on the bottom rear. Is there any remedy for this? Carl t 1/4" out at the bottom rear. Any remedy for this?

It is likely that the cowl portion of your convertible is a bit out of line with the rear of the body. There is an adjustment under the cowl on the frame. It is an arm with a double nutted bolt. Any small movement of that bolt will have a large effect on the cowl. If you lower the right side of the cowl a very small bit, you will likely find that the right hand door gap will decrease. In restoring my '47 convertible, I found that the rear portion of the frame had been bent, probably by someone hooking a tow line into one of the frame holes. This caused the frame to "rack", making alignment of the doors necessary. There is little physical connection between the front and rear parts of the body, due to the lack of a roof, so adjusting and shimming is necessary. I finally got my car back into shape, needing only to fabricate a shim for the right hand latch. Every adjustment affects the rest, so be prepared to spend a lot of time.
