Anyone have info on how to initially set up and adjust a Spartan horn?

There are two common troublespots in these horns, the coil and the contacts. If the coil is intact, dressing the points and adjusting the gap will usually bring them back to life. Use a point file to dress the points, never sandpapper or emery paper, as these will embed particles in the surface. Close the point gap until you get the desired tone and volume. These horns draw a lot of current. so be cautious as you connect the horn to a battery. When you remove the feed, it is usual to have an arc, strong enough to give you a jolt.
