How can you tell if a 1935 ford greyhound is original or not. I know the 33/34 dog tail is free standing but is the 35.

Moxie, That's a good question~ The Greyhound was a Ford approved accessory for the 33-34 models only. All others are aftermarket, but I always assumed that the original aftermarket dogs had the unattatched tail as the 33-34's did. Maybe someone else can come up with a more definitive answer than I? I've seen cars with a greyhounds that have been out fitted with a knitted sweater. Wonder if the sweater was an authorized accessory for the greyhound!LOL

Tom, Yes, but only the Ford Blue sweaters were made with Henry's soybean yarn, so I guess the others were aftermarket. Alan

I spoke with the one of the authors of the 35-36 book published by the national club and he said that the greyhound was not offered by Ford as an accessory for 1935. All dogs were after market. Apparently, there were several manufactures of dogs.

It looks like the front emblem on my car was made for attaching a dog, but maybe that's part of the package when you purchase a dog.

I think the dog was only authorized for 1934 but I may be wrong.
