Topic: Clutch or trans. problems?

I have a '51 Ford V8 w/3 speed overdrive trans. When the engine reaches operating temp. it will not shift into low gear at a complete stop. When the engine is cold it shifts fine. Have replaced the clutch and pressure plate, the throw out bearing, the pilot bushing, and resurfaced the flywheel. Still have the same problem. Any help appreciated.

Check the alignment of the shift levers on the end of the shift column shaft at the bottom of the steering column. Adjust them so that the gear shift lever moves upward and downward in the neutral position without binding. Check the integrity of the two front motor mounts and the rear transmission mount. If any of these is broken, replace it. If the above steps don't remedy the problem, disconnect the shift rods from the shift levers on the side of the transmission and check to make sure that the interlock within the transmission will only allow one gear to be selected at a time. If two gears can be selected at the same time, you will have to remove the transmission side cover to determine if the shifter cams, lock plunger, lock plunger balls, or spring is causing the problem and replace the defective parts.

First check the clutch free play when the engine is warm. You should have about 1".
