Topic: Exhaust system change

Changing my existing dual exhaust back to a single exhaust. Are some parts suppliers better than others for this in terms of quality of components? Any recommendations? Thanks.

David, I am not certain what year you are working on. I know from much personal experience that the front reproduction pipes for 39 - 40 never fit quite correctly and always require some 'customizing'. Tail pipes are okay. Mufflers are also okay but not authentic (if that matters to you).
If you can find NOS, it'll be worth the cost. I know currently there is a 40 front exhaust pipe (NOS) on ebay. I just bought two of them from the guy.

I apologize. I should have been more specific. The exhaust system would be for a 1947 Ford convertible. Image attached.

I'm assuming that you will need a crossover pipe, probably a head pipe and muffler, as well as necessary gaskets and clamps. For better quality parts, we usually order from C&G (800/266-0470). We normally don't reuse tail pipes, but have a good muffler shop in our area make them up out of stainless stock. Lightly used vehicles can eat exhaust systems due to accumulation of moisture, and the extra cost is worth it. I did this on my own '47 convertible.
