Remove the windshild frame from the car. Lay it on your work bench or other surface with a pad(moving blanket, etc.) under the frame for cushion. On the back side of the frame you will find screws on the sides of the frame. Those screws need to be removed. If they have been there for a long time they will probably be difficult to get out. You may need to soak the screws with soemthing like "Kroil" to get them to loosen up.
Once you get the screws out you need to separate the two frame halves. I use a wooden block and put it up against the lower part of the frame and hit the block with a hammer. You need to do this so you alternate from side to side. The frame is held together with some square stock which is inserted in the frame sides. This stock contains the threaded holes for the screws you removed. Again you may have to soak the sides with "Kroil" as the squarestock may be rusted to the frame. It's not an easy process so take your time if you are trying to save the glass.
