Where would I find the vin # and engine # on my 1941 ford?

There is NO number on the engine. Rather, there is a number on the transmission case, just above the inspection cover. If the transmission has not been swapped, this number matches the number stamped in to the frame.
Those three places are on the left frame rail. the only one you can see without removing the body is between the front cross member and the cowl. Usually (not always) it is nearest the cross member.
It can be difficult to spot as it was hand stamped and often not too deeply.
Steel wool and wiping with oil will aid in your search.
I would not suggest using anything more abrasive as you may eradicate what remains of the numbers.
