If you were rebuilding a 59A engine, what would you do about the oil pump? (e.g., pull out the Speedway catalog and order a replacement HI volume or standard, Speedway or Melling, or rebuild the original - is there a kit for this or where can I have this done?) Thanks, Paul

Unless you are racing, there is no need for a high volume pump. I prefer the 80# short body pump over the 50# pump. Be sure to replace the pressure relief valve and sending unit if you change to an 80# pump. Tom

If you use the "short" 8BA pump in the earlier (32-48) engines, you have to also install the 8RT pickup tube. Both are available from C&G (800/266-0470). We braze the tube to the mounting flange to prevent separation, a "sometimes" problem with that setup.
