Hi, Have two clocks for late 47 &48 Ford, one has silver hands the other which has a date on back of dec,47 has gold or bronze hands. What was the later used in? Thanks, Rick

Thanks Tom, both clocks are 47, 48 Ford, except one has silver hands and the other gold, other than that they are the same as the one pictured. Thanks again for your help. Rick

Check to see if the clocks are from different manufacturers. As I recall Ford used clocks from New Haven and Westclox. I have an original 47 dash with the instruments and the hands on the speedo and clock are silver. This dash came out of a 6 cylinder deluxe car. The difference in the colors could also be in the deluxe vs super deluxe cars.

I have the gold-handed one in my '47 to match the speedometer needle. I found it several years ago on eBay. Both silver and gold clocks were used, depending upon the speedometer, apparently. I don't know if there was a distinction based on deluxe vs. super deluxe, or whether it was due to changes in vendors. When I bought both the clock and the speedo, the price made me wonder if it was real gold!

Bob, is your 47 an early or late car? The early 47's used the 46 trim and the converts had the early gauges that were used in the woodies. They had a gold needle and a black and gold face. Those particular gauges are very pricey.
