Jerry,

The Ford Memorabilia feature treating the 1937 Maine License Plate was very interesting.

Unfortunately, the automobile in the photo on page 45 of the Jan/Feb 2012 issue of the V-8 Times is not a 1937 Ford Cabriolet Model 760A. The 1937 Ford in the photo is a Roadster Model 710. The windwings and the curtain snaps on the doors are a big give away that this is a Roadster.

A photo of the same car can be found on page 1-4 of the EFV-8 Club's 1937 Ford Book. A very beautiful photo of a 1937 Ford Cabriolet can be found at the top of page 1-5.

I stand corrected - again. I thought I had figured this out. Awhile back, I misidentified a Cabriolet as a Roadster. Amidst the corrections I received, one made it clear for me - or so I thought. A fellow V-8er told me to think of a Cabriolet as a "hardtop with the top cut off." Meaning if the windshield post is part of the body it is a Cabriolet. So, while the car in the January/February V-8 TIMES has the solid posts, it is a Roadster!

Jerry, your friend instructed you correctly, but neglected to inform you that the 1937 Ford Roadster was the single exception to the rule he laid out for you. Some folks claim that the '37 isn't a true Roadster because of the windshield frame, but in fact, it is, and was the last of Ford's Roadsters. In the future, look for the roll at the top of the door, and the side curtain buttons on the side of the door. This rule of thumb applies to all Ford's Roadsters and Phaetons.

Jerry, On the theam of incorrect identification the picture on page 34 is a phaeton not a convertile sedan and on page 30 the second picture down on the left is a 40 standard. I think I am spending too much time reading the V8 TIMES in my old age. Keep up the good work I enjoy every one of them.
