How much clearance do you have between the fan and upper radiator hoses on the '33-'34 models?

3/4-7/8" from blade to hose with stock generator. I've been told it's less with an alternator.

Yup, sure is less for an alternator. I'm looking at about a 1/4" or less.

A friend called my Thursday with the same probelm with his new 6 volt alternator and bracket. (On his 36) He said the pulley was 3/16 behind the water pumps and the crank pulley.
I suggested welding 3/16 spacers on the back of the bracket arms.
Have others had this probelm with these after market conversions?
I think I'll stick with my generator!

It is hard to tell what is hapening with so little information but I thought I would throw this out. The distance between the fan blades and the generator pulley mounting surface for the fans that bolt to the generator pulley varies. There are at least 3 lengths available. How long is yours?

My 2 wire alternator and electric fan fit good on my 36. And, after 15 years, solved both my charging and overheating problems. Purchased from Fifth Ave. Why so many lengths?

Better solution might be to put some spacers behind the pulley on the new alternator. (Much better/easier than welding the bracket's thickness)
