i am working on a 34 roadster that i bought as a complete basket case. both the door latch and striker are repops because i couldnt find any nice used ones. i am having problems getting these to work properly. i can shut the doors but i have to open the door handle and then hold the door shut and then close the handle to latch the door, any suggestions? i need a spacer on both sides to make them work, do they need to be tapered? any help or ideas would be appreciated. thanks tom

When I had a similar problem with my '47 convertible, I discovered that the door weatherstripping was causing the latch to bind until I pulled the door in enough to allow the latch bolt to release. Be sure you have the correct strike, and don't shim it out so far that it traps the latch bolt. Open cars present unique problems due to body flexing. Once you get the door to fit, then tackle the latch.

Check this web site northnbill.com/home. He seems to be an expert on 33-34 Ford Roadster reproduction parts. He may be able to help.
