Topic: 1936 Ignition switch

I understand from the Originality guide that the '36 ignition switch is a one year only thing... am I correct?

Does anybody have one that could spare? Mine has a replacement lock cylinder, so I really could do with the cylinder only.

Thanks,
Victor

Yes the ignition lock cylinder for 36 is unique to this year. Check with local lock shops that have been around for a while, for a new original (as pictured in the restoration book) also some of the guys that repair old lock cylinders such as Leon Rowell or Jesters. If your cylinder is 36 it can be removed and cleaned or repined and a new key made from the code stamped on the side of the cylinder. If your key operates both the door and the ignition (as original), the door cylinder can be removed to get the same code. If you do find a new cylinder you may wish to pull the door cylinder and have it re-keyed using the new cylinder code.

Thanks a lot for your response! so, one year only... difficult to find, I guess.

Anybody out there with one?

I also need a door lock, and I will have them keyed the same.

Thanks,
Victor

Victor, Heres a photo to confirm what you are looking for. They were marked "Hurd" or "Briggs & Stratton"

Does that lock cylinder have a flat side on it? Or is it the way the light is shining on it?

Its a cylinder, no flat sides.

Victor: If the picture is helpful, you will find the 35-36 Ford restoration book very helpful. The restoration book is available through this web site.
