Topic: 1951 F-1 brakes

I am restoring a 1951 Ford F-1 pickup, and cannot find replacement rubber covers that cover the parking brake cable ends at the attach bracket under the frame near the middle of the truck. Anyone have a suggestion?

I found NOS parts on e-bay, but they don't fit exactly right (they don't fit over the metal part at the end of the brake cable). I have attached a picture.

Isn't that brake cable set-up one of the most overly complicated things you've ever seen? One of Ford's better ideas, second only to the cooling fan bearing on the 8RC.
