Topic: Rumble seat conversion 1936 Coupe

Does anyone have a photo or drawing of how to modify the channel in the trunk to allow for the trunk lid to become a rumble seat lid? I am getting ready to modify the trunk but can't find a good reference document to do it right.

  Yikes!!!

Do you really want your family and friends to ride in the rumble seat?
They are just too dangerous in this day and age.
Keep your car original--why cut the Henry Steel?

There have been several threads on this topic at Fordbarn and at the HAMB.

I know... I know-- but I want to enjoy this with my grandkids and a rumble seat is just not avaialble in the new cars. This is going to be a driver - not a show car. Thanks for your response. I will try the fordbarn forum.

Before you go cutting any original Henry metal try this idea. I have a 2nd fiberglass trunk lid that weighs about 10 pounds. You replace the metal lid with it and then it's easy to lift off.

Fabricate a seat with a folding back that fits in the trunk and flips up with the lid trunk off.

I put some spring loaded plungers on the front edge of the fiberglass lid that fit under the lip of the trunk opening and use the standard latch to hold it down.
